LuWa - Light Plan 4.0
As part of the public-private partnership initiated by the SPW, Newelec actively participated in the LuWa – Plan Lumière 4.0 project, aimed at completely renovating the medium-voltage (MV) substations of the Walloon motorway network.
This 20-year contract provides for the resizing of transformer substations to enable energy savings of 76% through the modernization of hundreds of thousands of light points. Automated management of LED lighting from the substations ensures comfort and safety for users.
The construction phase includes the replacement and compliance upgrade of more than 300 MV substations, the adaptation of existing installations or their replacement with prefabricated substations, in coordination with local DSOs (RESA, ORES, AIEG, AIESH, etc.).
The maintenance phase provides for the upkeep of the installations, their daily maintenance, and the development of a 24/7 on-call service to ensure optimal responsiveness in the event of a failure. This project also involves close coordination with highway flaggers and the PEREX center, ensuring safe interventions on the network (blocking interchanges, managing emergency lanes, etc.).
